About Maple Hill Disc Golf

Challenging and compelling aesthetics

Maple Hill Disc Golf was founded in 2003 by Tom Southwick and Steve Dodge. The course was created on the beautiful rolling hills, fields, and ponds of the family Christmas Tree farm. Come enjoy this magical land that seems to have been created for the sole purpose of being the home of a premier disc golf course.

Maple Hill Application

We are hiring for the 2024 season! Please fill out our online application.

Policies

Group Size

The maximum group size of players is 5. 6 somes and bigger are not allowed at Maple Hill and will be asked to split up. Playing in a group bigger than 5 people will result in a suspension at Maple Hill.

Winter Policy NEW

We have a new updated winter policy for weather conditions. If it is going to snow the course becomes closed. You cannot come to Maple Hill while it is snowing. Any tee times that conflict with snow will be cancelled and refunded. This is regardless of how much in advance your trip is planned. The course must be closed so we can deal with the weather and course conditions properly. The course will re-open the following morning and in more severe cases will re-open at noon the following day.

Late Tee Time / Tee Time Cancellation

If you are more than ten minutes late to your tee, we cannot guarantee that you will be able to play. We will do our best to accommodate you and appreciate your understanding that it may not happen. If you are going to be late or unable to play during your tee time, refunds are honored for tee times that are cancelled more than one hour prior to the tee time.

Lost and Found

If you put your name and number on the disc, we will text you when it is found.
If there is no name on the disc, it will go straight onto the used rack.

We work very hard to return discs to the rightful owner. If a disc does not have a name and/or number on it, we have no way of knowing who the rightful owner is. We have tried to hold discs with no names in order to give players a chance to claim them but this leads to people, usually in good faith, asking if we found a no-name-disc-type-color and we almost never have it, even with us holding these discs for a month or more. Discs can be found in a day or in a decade and trying to match no name discs to disc golfers is not worth the effort and seems to be leading to a place where people can just ask if we found a disc type and hope to get a free disc on the off chance we did. We must adjust our policy to reality and are no longer able to return discs with no names on them.

Event / League Cancellation

In the case of extremely inclement weather causing us to preemptively cancel, we will make a post to our Facebook page as soon as the decision to cancel is made. We apologize for any inconveniences caused and do our best to make decisions for everyone's safety and enjoyment.

Weather Policy

We are committed to providing discers with the very best in playing conditions. There are instances when weather forces us to protect the discers well being as well as the condition of the golf course.

Rain
Golfers may choose to play in the rain. We do not offer rain checks due to rain. You may cancel your tee time up to one hour before you tee off. After that, be prepared to play in the weather that you are provided.

Lightning
It always seems to happen when you are having the best round of your life. The wind picks up, the clouds move in, and you hear thunder in the distance. The temptation always exists in these circumstances to convince yourself and your playing partners that there is enough time to finish your round, or at least a few more holes. If you play on instead of seeking shelter, your great round could become the last round of your life.
There are several safety measures you can take to avoid being struck by lightning:

  • If the airhorn sounds, seek shelter immediately.

  • Even if you do not hear the alert system, use your best judgment and seek shelter at the first sign of a thunderstorm.

  • If possible, get off the course and return to the sap house or your car.

  • Do not stand under a lone tree. This is where most people are injured or killed.

  • If stranded in the open, go to a low place such as a ravine or valley.

  • If a member of our staff asks you to suspend play due to weather, please come off the course immediately.

Rain Check Policy
Rain checks are issued to players on the front nine when play is suspended due to lightning. Please request your rain check either in person at the Sap House or via email.

Dress Code

Shoes and shirts are required to play Maple Hill.

Pace of Play Policy

To ensure all golfers have a positive experience,  all players should be aware of groups around you and to play faster whenever it will improve the experience of others.

  • We reserve the right to monitor guests’ pace of play.

  • If a group behind you is playing faster than you, please ask/allow them to play through.

This policy is practiced with the intent of maintaining a reasonable and pleasurable round of golf for all guests. Members and guests are expected to respect the directions of our course rangers as their goal is to help make everyone’s round more enjoyable.

AM I PLAYING TOO SLOW?
It is worth being aware of others around you and seeing if your pace of play approximately matches. If it does not, here are three easy ways to adjust.

CHOOSE THE RIGHT TEE
Players should play from a set of tees best suited to their driving distance. In addition to providing more enjoyment for golfers, teeing it forward is an important step golfers can take to improve pace of play.

READY GOLF

  • When a player is at the disc and ready to play, they should go ahead and play—so long as it’s safe.

  • Again, if you aren’t in the line of play, you can move forward and/or help others find their disc.

  • If you’re on the tee and ready to tee off, go ahead and tee off.

  • Putt out: if you aren’t in someone’s line, go ahead and finish that short putt.

  • Never hold up play because you’re in the middle of a conversation. Put your conversation on hold, take your stroke, and then continue the conversation.

  • Your place on the golf course is immediately behind the group in front of you, not immediately in front of the group behind you.
